The Festival della Comunicazione e del Cinema Archeologico is an international film festival dedicated to the dissemination of the Ancient through the visual arts.
It is held every year in October in Licodia Eubea, a Sicilian village in the heart of Hyblaean mountains.
The festival aims at attracting the interest of people about archaeology and its protagonists, and at making the Ancient World more appealing and understandable.
The event consists of four main activities:
The screening of documentaries, docu-fiction and animated films, within the three main categories in the competition: Cinema e Archeologia, Ragazzi e Archeologia, Cinema e Antropologia. Out of competition is the section Finestra sul Documentario Siciliano, dedicated to the great masters of Island documentary, to young Sicilian directors, to productions shot in Sicily and difficult to circulate.
Archeology meetings with archaeologists, researchers, directors and film producers involved in the dissemination sector;
Thematic photographic exhibitions and collateral events;
The awarding of three prizes: the “Antonino Di Vita Prize”, awarded by the Scientific Committee to those who have spent their professional activity in the field of the dissemination of the Ancient; the “Archaeoclub d’Italia Award”, awarded to the documentary most appreciated by the public; the “ArcheoVisiva Award”, awarded by the international quality jury to the best film in competition.
